Match planned performance: hospital/school/production-trace/cabinet/security → 1231; edge stamp+OCXO → 4096; plant multi-port / half-rack → 8640. ★ marks advantage industries.

Hospital & weak-current NTP Advantage

Hospitals deploy NTP first so HIS, LIS, and PACS share one timestamp: disagreeing lab, imaging, or pathology times affect diagnosis and liability. Monitors, connected-device events, OR records, and facilities/security need the same base. SY-1231 is an inspectable LAN NTP Stratum 1 in the weak-current cabinet. Infusion pumps and ventilators typically enter via a time-synchronized clinical gateway or nurse station; do not list every bedside device as an NTP client. This unit does not replace an MLPS assessment or hospital-accreditation verdict.

School & campus NTP Advantage

K–12, vocational, and university network rooms, teaching-building cabinets, labs, and one-card or exam systems need one inspectable LAN time base. SY-1231 delivers GNSS-disciplined NTP Stratum 1 with BeiDou+GPS and TCXO holdover on a single port sized for typical campus cabinets; campus security can share the same source. Specify coming 4096 only when a lab or campus TV plant requires IRIG-B / OCXO.

Industrial cabinet NTP

Production and automation cabinets need an inspectable on-prem time source for PLCs, IPCs, and logs. Single-port LAN NTP with one AC or DC inlet and front-panel LOCK checks; plan capacity from the datasheet formula.

Production trace & PLC timing Advantage

The core production need is timestamps that can be correlated in order—not an unverified nanosecond marketing figure. Cabinet GNSS NTP (SY-1231) serves NTP/SNTP devices; PLCs without a network clock read this unit’s Modbus millisecond calendar. Use it for alarm order, line correlation, shift reports, quality trace, and interval metering alignment. This unit is not a legal metrology instrument.

Security & video timing

Cameras, NVRs, and access platforms need consistent timestamps for correlation and search. Cabinet GNSS NTP keeps the reference inside your control boundary and cuts drift—usually a single LAN port is enough without hardware-stamp or OCXO upgrades.

Power & industrial auxiliary I/O

Beyond Ethernet NTP, sites often need TTL 1PPS, a minute PULSE, or RS-485 Modbus absolute time. Accept per channel—do not apply internal ns / 1PPS to NIC NTP. Shipping 1231 covers 1PPS + PULSE + Modbus (no IRIG); IRIG-B → 4096; multi-port / dual-supply → 8640.

Edge stamp + OCXO + hardware time I/O

Factory, campus, and BA edge cabinets: half-width 1U single-port with hardware-stamped NTP, OCXO holdover, and hardware time outputs (1PPS / IRIG-B / programmable pulse). SY-4096 fits this tier—does not replace the multi-port / dual-supply flagship.

Plant half-rack & multi-port Advantage

Power, metals, and plant SIS often need separated management and timing ports, multi-gigabit links, and dual supply. SY-8640 targets that scene—do not tender unpublished items; bridge with 1231 or 4096.
